About Balaji Group

Balaji Telefilms, the brightest star in the Media and Entertainment Space today.

A star is born…

1994. The year Balaji Telefilms was incorporated was the year that changed Indian television forever.

Earlier, televisions were a part of our homes, but not of our lives. When Balaji Telefilms made its debut on the silver screen, the TV ceased being just a TV. Innovative content and serials mirrored the joys of Indian family life, their trials and tribulations, their hopes and desires. The TV became a friend, a guide, a helping hand.

One of the first serials to bridge the gap between the screen and the people watching it, was 'Hum Paanch'. It was later followed by blockbuster shows like 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi' and 'Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki', which not only garnered unprecedented TRPs, but also millions of devoted fans.

Riding on the success of such revolutionary shows, Balaji Telefilms rose to unprecedented heights in the late 1990s and 2000s. It pioneered the growth of Hindi television channels which eventually led to Hindi General Entertainment Channels dominating primetime entertainment. In fact, it is said that the satellite boom in India was created and led by Balaji.
